I'm Not A Quitter | Print |  E-mail

We will all go to great lengths to avoid being labeled a quitter. We struggle through hard times, put up with more than we ever imagined we could, and even tolerate people that drive us crazy. Maybe the old saying runs through your head even right now; “winners never quit and quitters never win.” We all have a desire to be a winner in life. The truth is that God is our faithful father, and He rewards our faithfulness: that never-quit, gut-it-out character.

Have you ever finished a sports season that you never should have tried in the first place, just so that you would not be a quitter? When I was young, I went out for wrestling. All my friends wrestled, and I wanted to be a part. The only problem was I had no clue about wrestling, and I was the smallest person out there. Soon enough, I became the crash test dummy for the wrestling team. At the beginning of practice, everyone would rush to see who got to torture me for the day. I had no business being out there on that mat, and it was obvious. As you can imagine, I was miserable, and I told anyone and everyone I could about it. But I was not a quitter.

I was a complainer but not a quitter, or so I thought. What comes out of your mouth when life gets tough? The easiest thing to do when life is not going how we want is to complain. We complain when we have already quit in our heart. The next time you find yourself complaining, take a look at where your heart is. Don’t quit on God. Winners never complain, and complainers never win. When we complain, we are telling God that we don’t trust Him, and we have given up on Him in our heart. So the next time you feel like complaining, try telling God how much you trust Him. After all, He has never made a mistake, and he will never let anyone down.
